Orano Projects is delighted to announce that Saralyn Thomas, one of our team of safety consultants based in Abingdon, has been formally recognised in the prestigious Fem’Energia Awards this month in Paris.

The Fem’Energia awards have been running in Europe since 2009 and aim to recognise the contribution made by female students and professionals within the nuclear industry.

Winner of second prize in the ‘Women in Europe’ category, Saralyn’s award recognises the outstanding contribution she has made over her 4 years working in the nuclear industry. In addition to her role at Orano, Saralyn has undertaken numerous activities to support the YGN, the Nuclear Institute and Women in Nuclear Central England Branch, going above and beyond to promote the industry and the opportunities available, especially for young women, to engage with the sector.

Saralyn said: ‘I am incredibly honoured to have been considered for this award and to win second place among the inspiring women nominated in this category. Gender equality is something I am very passionate about and will continue to advocate for in the workplace and in my volunteering with the Nuclear Institute.’

John Storer, Managing Director of Orano Projects Limited said: ‘I am delighted to see Saralyn’s achievements recognised by these high-profile industry awards. It is a testament to the hard work she has committed over the past few years, and we are proud to have her as part of the Orano team in the UK.’
