Safety Consultant

Your Purpose:

For this role you can be based at our Warrington, Westlakes or Abingdon office. The Safety Case Consultant will support our clients regarding new build, decommissioning or ongoing operational facilities in providing safety cases and associated assessments.  To ensure work is delivered to a high standard, timely and to the programme agreed. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and present robust and reasoned arguments in a rational and coherent manner
  • Delivering consultancy that meets, and exceeds the expectations of the client, in regard to technical excellence and the quality of deliverables
  • Delivering consultancy that meets, and exceeds the expectations of the client, in terms of timescales and cost, in a way that supports the long-term growth of the business and its reputation
  • Managing this work (in the form of small to medium sized projects) either as a project or technical lead
  • Delivering the work within budget and to the agreed programme whilst keeping track of the project (all aspects)
  • Liaising with all concerned of both technical and commercial progress
  • Developing skills in growing projects
  • Identifying opportunities with clients and supporting, mentoring, coaching and helping others to develop within the business

What you can bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience within a similar role
  • Previous experience working within the Nuclear industry
  • Basic understanding of the safety case production process and methodologies
  • Familiarity with areas such as decommissioning, optioneering, best practice, human factors, radioactive materials transport, licensing/de-licensing, radioactive waste
  • A Degree or equivalent in engineering, science or related field of study


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a vested interest in personal development
  • Ability to write clear and concise arguments
  • Ability to establish and maintain influential working relationships with other team members / disciplines internally and externally
  • Organisation, prioritisation and delegation skills
  • Able to manage own workload and work autonomously within the parameters of the role
  • Demonstrate commitment to always working safely
  • Ability to identify and minimise risks
  • Able to work on own initiative whilst anticipating the wider consequences of decisions and know when to refer upwards
  • Use of initiative / be proactive to problem solve of work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
